KRISTIN CHENOWETH in LOUISVILLE!

KRISTIN CHENOWETH in LOUISVILLE!

When I thought about how to describe the experience (that) I'd had last Wednesday night at actress/singer Kristin Chenoweth's concert, it occurred to me that the same three-word description also conveys how I feel about the vivacious Tony and Emmy-winner as an artist; which is, 'Simply the Best!' Without question; of the many many concerts I've sat through over the past 20 years, I'd rank the Broadway, television and film star's "An Evening with Kristin Chenoweth" production on an equal A+ level with Lena Horne's out-of-this-world concert, which came to Louisville over 20 years ago. P.S. To all you Youth Performing Art School students out there-take my word for it, Kristin Chenoweth (who's my Arts Insider "A Master Class" interview subject in the February issue of Today's Woman) is a master class lesson in how it's done... whether it's how to sing ballads (*without a single shred of overacting as some singers feel compelled to do,) to singing something comedic-like the song "I'm Tired," which the late Madeline Kahn performed (spoofing Marlene Dietrich) in the film classic "Blazing Saddles." Chenoweth is also a gifted storyteller, sharing vividly described and humorous recollections that night about what it was like being a small town Oklahoma little girl with a 'wanna work on Broadway!' dream; to when years later she became a Broadway musical (i.e. can you say "Wicked") star. One last time...'Simply the Best!' -Gioia Patton/Arts Insider
