PBS Television Special Airs November 28
Kristin Chenoweth, the Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and accomplished singer, has signed a worldwide recording agreement with Concord Music Group. Her album Coming Home will be released on November 18, 2014.
This fall, Chenoweth will host the PBS Arts Fall Festival, featuring classic Broadway hits, music from around the country and theatre performances. The festival will include her own concert performance, "Kristin Chenoweth: Coming Home," where she will perform a career-spanning concert in her hometown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The concert will be released as a live CD and DVD and filmed for a PBS television special, which will air on November 28.
Chenoweth will also be featured in Star-Spangled Spectacular: Bicentennial of our National Anthem, a concert special honoring the 200th anniversary of our national anthem, to be held in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 13. The event will be televised live on PBS as part of the network's Great Performances series.
"All of us are thrilled to have someone of Kristin's stature be a part of the Concord family," said Mark Wexler, General Manager/Senior Vice President, Concord Records Group. "She is a multi-talented entertainer and has touched so many lives with her thrilling performances. We all look forward to working closely with her in this next chapter of her incredible, multi-faceted career."
A Hollywood Bowl and Oklahoma Hall of Fame inductee, Chenoweth effortlessly transitions between stage, television, film and an accomplished singing career. Many remember her show-stealing, Tony-winning performance in "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" and her triumphant star turn when she originated the role of Glinda the Good Witch in "Wicked," which earned her a leading actress Tony Award nomination. While starring in the ABC series "Pushing Daisies," she received an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Chenoweth has appeared on Fox's comedy "Glee" in a role for which she was nominated for two Emmy Awards and for a People's Choice Award in the category of Favorite TV Guest Star. She also starred as Annabeth Schott on NBC's Emmy-winning drama "The West Wing" and guest judged on "American Idol" and "Project Runway."
Chenoweth will return to Broadway, playing the glamorous film star, Lily Garland, in the Roundabout Theatre Company's 20-week limited engagement of "On the Twentieth Century," in early 2015. She has completed production on the Universal film "The Boy Next Door," alongside Jennifer Lopez, "Opposite Sex," an indie teen drama entitled "Hard Sell" and the Disney Channel's live-action original movie "Descendents," in which she will play the classic Sleeping Beauty villain Maleficent.
