Kristin Chenoweth Takes Tanglewood Stage
As Kristin Chenoweth prepares to perform at Tanglewood this Saturday, Sept. 5, she takes time with Daily News Correspondent, R.Scott Reedy, to reflect on the monumental year she's had. Actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth admits getting emotional a few weeks back when Carol Burnett presented her with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “You go your whole life thinking that something like that could never happen to you,” explained Chenoweth by telephone from her car after a taping of TBS’ “Conan” in Burbank last week. “And then, there I was, on Hollywood Boulevard, with my parents and friends and Carol, one of my very favorite performers. I was incredibly touched.” The Tony winner – who closes out the Tanglewood season with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra on Saturday, Sept. 5 – was pleased with her star’s prime location in front of the Pantages Theatre. “I’ve never played the Pantages, but theater is my safe haven so I was happy to see my star there. During the ceremony, I kept thinking, ‘This is so cool.’ And then I spotted this seedy-looking nightclub called ‘The Frolic Room’ across the street and I thought ‘Now, there’s a place I should play,” says Chenoweth with a mischievous laugh.
